Soccer club receives new equipment

After another successful season the Cobar Junior Soccer Club will be ready and raring for next year after it received more than $1000 worth of new sports equipment through the Telstra Assistance Fund.

The club has received a number of new items from ball pumps, equipment bags, corner flags and goal nets.

The local club was one of 1280 junior sporting organisations across Australia chosen to receive the new sporting equipment.

Telstra area general manager Chris Taylor said the company was proud to continue supporting grassroots and community clubs in Cobar.

“The fund aims to promote a healthy lifestyle and encourage participation in sport,” Mr Taylor said.

“I am delighted that Cobar Junior Soccer Club will benefit from the program.”

“Grassroots clubs are the backbone of local communities. The support these clubs receive through initiatives such as the Telstra Assistance Fund helps them to continue the important role they play,” he said.

The fund has helped contribute more than $6 million to local sporting organisations during the past six years.

The Telstra Assistance Fund provides equipment to clubs involved in the areas of swimming, soccer, rugby league, AFL and surf life saving.
