Lively challenges by a number of lower ranked teams highlighted last Thursday's round of Cobar mixed touch.

Scott Toomey's Socketeers posted an exciting 7-all draw with frontrunners Everyday Hire after leading 5-4 at the break.

Elusive runner Sean Cox (5 touchdowns) together with Toomey and Nardine Cull kept the Socketeers on target for an upset win but a late defensive lapse out wide allowed Everyday to equalise through Casey Martin.

Nick Jentjens, Shane Martin, Jenifer Watson and Nicole Hunter also scored for Everyday while match honours were shared by Cox, Toomey and Casey Martin.

An understrength Golf Club held Tamrock to a 5-3 halftime margin before eventually going down 15-7.

Jonathon Donnelly 3, Nick DeBruin 3, Kelly Bridge 3, Shane Boag 2 together with Graeme Barton, Mat Armstrong, Josh George and Emma Brown touched-down for the Sharks.

Roosters' new hooker Luke Payne (4 tries) and Jarred Davey 3, spearheaded Golfie's vigorous counter-attack.

Jake Goonrey, Josh George and Jayde Fullager gained the referee's points.

Competition improvers Burgess Supermarket relied on their quick steppers Jay Egan and Sam Beckett (5 tries each) to outpoint Hakuna Matata 14-7.

Mat Egan, Josh Harland and Steve Nicholson also crossed for the Bruisers.

Wing threequarter Gemma Bain 3, Sheldon Wilson, Scott Meadows, Joe Moisge and Richard Hill led the Hakuna's reply.

Sam Beckett, Gemma Bain and Jay Egan shared best and fairest.

Competition leaders Empire Hotel relied on quick hands and sheer pace to outclass the hard working Blue Heelers 18-3.

Slick tries to Brett Robinson 4, Peter Finn 3, Jason Yeeles 3, Todd Kemp 3, Kelly Yates 2 and Brock Walsh kept the Lizards in minor premiership contention.

Javed Colling, Aaron Harvey and Kenny Boulton sparked a late Heeler's fightback with Tia Parisi, Dinell Schiller and Colling impressing the referee.

Come Play (Jason Hosken 4 tries, Fergus Thomas 2, Rachael Kennedy and Andrew Thornberry) displayed glimpses of enterprising attack but lacked the defensive skills to contain high profile opponents, Wells Con, going down 22-8.

Dominant performances for Wells Con were recorded by Rob Martin 5, Mat Gordon 5, Rodney Hill 3, Anna Wright 3, Emma Darcy 2, Jake Francisco 2 and Wes Bailey 2.

A depleted Ultra Finish struggled against the AFL Blues, conceding 27 tries in a one sided encounter.

Dean Cooper (9 tries), Murray Robotham 6, Kel Sansom 4, Jamie Coad 3 and Terry Page 2 led the Blue's romp while Robotham, Jade Corfield and Angela Taylor were the referee's best.
