Melbourne Cup Day golf depletes next day’s play

12/11/2008 2:40:00 PM
A fun round of golf was held last Tuesday for Melbourne Cup Day, which by all reports was a great day enjoyed by everyone who attended.

It must have been very ‘draining’ as Wednesday’s round of golf could not go ahead due to lack of numbers.

With a few days to recover, Saturday’s Stableford event went ahead with Gloria Hay picking up the winner’s prize with 36 points.

Pat Mitchell was the runner-up with 35 points while Barb Barklimore came in third position on a countback from Pat Polack, both recording 34 points.

Nearest the pins went to Heather Forster (eighth) and Elaine Burton (15th). Sunday’s Langford Day results will be found in the men’s column today.

Today a stroke event will be played for Trophy Day, while on Saturday a par game is set down before the presentation dinner dance which

commences at 7pm at $10 per person.

On Sunday a Stableford will round off the weekend for the ‘fighting fit’.
