Bushies on fire for win

The Twenty/20 night competition resumed last Friday evening after the Christmas break with the Ox Bushies matched up against the Powerhouse team.

The Bushies won the toss and batted first, and finished with the respectable total of 7 for 128 from their 20 overs.

Stewart Fraser 24, Craig Dillon 21, Mal Hillier 20 not out, Dan Howard 18 (including two big sixes) and Stephen Nicholson 12 were the batsmen to make double figures.

Matt Low 3 for 15, Bill Fugar 2 for 19 and John Potter 1 for 12 were the wicket-takers for the Powerhouse team.

Matt Low, capping a good all-round performance, was the only Powerhouse batsman to reach double figures, scoring 24. Next highest score was sundries with 10 followed by Jake Harbison with 8.

Powerhouse were dismissed for only 59 from 18 overs.

Craig Tanke had the best bowling figures for the Bushies with 4 for 4 from his three overs and was ably supported by Stewart Fraser 2 for 6, Matt Nicholson 1 for 14, Stephen Nicholson 1 for 1 and Alex Fraser 1 for 2.

The Eagle Boys Pizza man of the match was taken out by Craig Tanke while Ben McBride was the best fieldsman for the Powerhouse and Mark Fraser best fieldsman for the Ox Bushies.

Next week’s match will be played on Saturday night commencing at 6pm with Ox Bushies taking on the Empire team. The duty team is The Young Guns.

There will also be a double-header of matches played the following Tuesday as part of the Australia Day celebrations with The Harvey Norman Destroyers matched up against the Cook and Black Young Guns commencing at 4pm and the duty team being The Powerhouse.

The second match in the double-header will be between CSA and the Golfie Heroes commencing at 7pm, with the duty team being Empire.
