Officer honoured on Australia Day

03 Feb, 2010 02:57 PM
Thirteen years of dedication and commitment has earned Cobar’s Colleen Boucher the Department of Defence Australia Day medallion which was presented by (AAC headquarters) Captain Jock Evans last week.

The medallion was given and the framed certificate read “In appreciation of your efforts as the Officer Commanding 221 Army Cadet Unit (Cobar).

“During this period you have ensured that the Cadet Unit has been an integral part of the community in Cobar.

“A Community Based Cadet Unit is reliant on the support and good will of the local population.

“Your very hands-on and practical approach has ensured that the cadets of 221 Army Cadet Unit have that which they require.

“You (ably supported by your husband) have ensured that the local youth in Cobar and Bourke have been given leadership opportunities and life skills that will hold them in good stead for the future.

“You are a highly respected and valued member of the Australian Army Cadets and you have made a significant contribution to your local community.”

Signed by JA Withers, Brigadier, Commander Australian Army Cadets and dated January 26, 2010.
