Metallurgical test work underway

26 Nov, 2009 07:47 AM
Metallurgical test work is currently being undertaken by YTC Resources to determine the quality of precious and base-metal samples from the company’s potentially rich Hera deposit near Nymagee.

CEO Rimas Kairaitis said Stage one of the feasibility study under the direction of GR Engineering Services, involved a detailed metallurgical test work program and the optimisation of the Hera process options.

Stage two of the definitive feasibility study (DFS) will evaluate the infrastructure, plant design and cost estimates for the optimised process options.

Mr Kairaitis said test work currently underway will assist in defining an optimal process flowsheet for the Hera ore.

All sampling previously conducted by Triako Resources indicated lead and zinc concentrates will be high quality with also high silver and gold credits.

Mr Kairaitis said the DFS scope of work will look at using gravity separation and flotation on a relatively course grind to either produce a gravity gold concentrate or sulphide gravity and flotation concentrates.

If it can be demonstrated the gravity/flotation technique can produce a sulphide concentrate containing lead, zinc and copper together with the remaining gold and silver, then YTC believe substantial advantages can be obtained in comparison to a standard flotation process.

These include significantly lower capital cost, lower operating cost and substantial reduction in power and water requirements.

YTC consider pre-concentration has the potential to make a major and positive impact on profitability of an integrated mining and processing centre at Hera.
