The Lilliane Brady Village got into the Olympic spirit last week with their own ‘mini’ variation of the Games.
Residents took part in a day of activities from darts to bowls to help mark the Beijing Olympics and to commemorate the village’s 26th birthday.
But with the Olympics now over Lilliane Brady Village boss Sharon Huon said there was no reason to call off the festivities.
The staff and residents are gearing up for another big day this Saturday to mark the annual fete on the lawns in Nullamut Street, which will start early.
“We’ve got lots of things planned for this year’s fete,” Ms Huon said.
“There’s something for everyone.”
Without giving too much away Ms Huon said locals would be able to enjoy the usual stalls and markets they have come to expect when the fete opens Saturday morning.
There will be plenty of things to do, especially for children, with a jumping castle among many other things planned throughout the day.
Ms Huon said the proceeds from this year’s fete would go towards funding the “little extras” which help make Lilliane Brady Village a home for so many residents.
“It’s for all the non-essential things that really do make a difference to the lives of our residents,” Ms Huon said.
Possible projects might include new furniture for the village’s dementia garden or purchasing items like extra blankets.
Entry is free and all residents are invited.
